Who Are RLI Members?

Members of the REALTORS® Land Institute specialize in land brokerage related to all types of land, including specialty properties, including:

  • Farms and ranches
  • Open tracts of land including recreational, timberland, and other resource lands
  • Transitional and development land
  • Subdivision and wholesale brokerage of lots
  • Site selection and assemblage of land parcels

In addition, membership is also open to all land professionals practicing in the industry as well as industry partners. RLI’s strong portfolio of membership benefits is designed to help members gain confidence when dealing with clients by being informed and having a strong network of fellow land professionals.

Accredited Land Consultants (ALCs)

The REALTORS® Land Institute offers different categories of membership to ensure that each of our member’s needs are met to the fullest. There are two main REALTORS® Land Institute membership categories: Accredited Members (those who have earned the Accredited Land Consultant Designation) and Non-Accredited Members (those who have not yet earned the Accredited Land Consultant Designation).

Those who choose a REALTORS® Land Institute membership are among the most educated, trusted and experienced land real estate professionals in the industry. Whether considering to become an elite Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) or just looking for ways to be one of the best in the industry, being a member of RLI offers a wide range of benefits that make the membership pay for itself. REALTORS® Land Institute Membership Categories

Accredited Land Consultants

Accredited Members have satisfactorily completed all the requirements of RLI’s candidacy program and who have been awarded the right to use the Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) Designation by fulfilling all professional competence requirements as established by the Board of Directors. Accredited Members must hold a category of membership as a REALTOR® or REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® member of the National Association, or hold an Institute Affiliate membership in a member Board/Association. Accredited Members may vote and hold office and may retain their accreditation as long as their REALTORS® Land Institute membership is maintained. These members qualify for Accredited Member-level member benefits.

This membership includes all member benefits listed above.

Annual Membership Dues: $445*

Institute Members

Institute Members are have not yet achieved the ALC Designation. They may vote and hold office only if they hold a category of membership as a REALTOR® or a REALTOR ASSOCIATE® member of NAR, or hold Institute Affiliate membership in a member Board/Association. Institute members retain their candidacy status and all coursework credit earned toward the ALC designation as long as their membership in the organization is maintained.  These members qualify for Institute Member-level member benefits and do not fall into any of the other Non-Accredited Member categories.

Military Transition Program (MTP) Members

RLI is proud to offer a Military Transition Program (MTP) which is designed to assist transitioning service members into the land real estate industry. The program is only available to veterans with a service end date within the last five years who are now looking to build or enhance a career in the land business. The program offers unparalleled opportunities for networking and gaining expertise in the industry which will allow those transitioning to gain competence and confidence as a land professional.

MTP Benefits:

  • This membership includes all member benefits listed above.
  • $125 application fee – WAIVED!*
  • Land 101: Fundamentals of Land Brokerage LANDU Course – FREE!**
  • Eligibility to apply for an MTP Scholarship through RLI’s Land Education Foundation (a value of $535!) which can be used towards one additional LANDU Course.

Associate Members

REALTORS® Land Institute Associate Members are industry service providers, partners, and other non-real estate professionals who are engaged in endeavors related to the objectives of RLI but who do not aspire to hold the Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) Designation. Associate members may include, but are not limited to, the following: real estate-related professionals who do not have a real estate license, government and non-profit employees, college students, and professors. Associate membership is not for those planning to take real estate courses in pursuit of a real estate license.  Associate Members may not vote or hold office and are not required to hold a category of membership in NAR. As a benefit, associate members gain access to RLI’s national network of land real estate professionals looking for services to build their business, are allowed to participate in the Member Advantage Program (brings your company promotion to all members), and receive member rates on education and event registrations.

This membership does not include a listing on the Find A Land Consultant agent search tool or access to use the property marketing tools. This membership does include all other member benefits listed above and the ability to be promoted as part of our MAP.

*First-time associate applicants are subject to an additional one-time application fee of $95.

Student Members

Student members are those individuals attending high school or an institution of higher education as part of a college or university degree program, who are not licensed as real estate practitioners, and who are interested in the land specialty and real estate profession.  They may not vote or hold office and are not required to hold membership in NAR.

This membership does not include a listing on the Find A Land Consultant agent search tool,  Member Advantage Program (MAP) discounts, or access to use the property marketing tools. This membership does include all other member benefits listed above.

Student membership rates do not apply to individuals enrolled in coursework to achieve their real estate license.

International Members

International members are those who are licensed to sell real estate by an official licensing authority, who live and work outside of the U.S. and Canada for more than nine months of the year, and who are members of a cooperating association if the country they practice in has a cooperating association.

This membership includes all member benefits listed above.

Annual Membership Dues: $195 | View Prorated Dues Schedule

*First-time international applicants are subject to an additional one-time application fee of $95.

Non-Producing Members

Non-Producing Members are those who are no longer actively selling real estate but still desire to maintain membership in RLI. To qualify for non-producing membership status, members must show proof of having an inactive real estate license from their state’s real estate commission.

This membership does not include a listing on the Find A Land Consultant agent search tool,Member Advantage Program (MAP) discounts, or access to use the property marketing tools. This membership does include all other member benefits listed above.

Annual Membership Dues: $75
